So I just realized why my shooting has improved when shooting both eyes open. When I shot with one eye closed I would bring the pin on target and begin my pull.....but then I would subconsciously let the pin drift back off the target so I could see it again and then put the pin back on it. This sounds weird but this is the sequence i would go through shooting one eye closed.

i started shooting both eyes open( I'm right handed and right eye dominant) and suddenly I don't have to pull the pin off the target to see the bullseye! Now all I do is pull until the shot fires. The pin is on target the whole time. This has helped my shooting a lot so I thought I would pass on my experience....maybe it would help others.

I wrestle with this one. I think my accuracy is better with both eyes open, but old habits are hard to break so I find myself always back to closing my one eye. But I think you're right on this VCB.

After shooting with one eye closed since forever, I have started to learn how to shoot with both eyes open. Started last December and it has made a world of difference, not on accuracy, as I am just as accurate with one eye closed as I am with both eyes open. However, it allows me to focus on the target better and all the way through my shot sequence, (also went to a handheld release at the same time.)

It was real hard for me to learn how to shoot with both eyes open since I have a duel eye dominance problem, i.e. if one eye has any kind of obstruction in front of it (like a peep or bow string) the other eye takes over and I would miss left by 3 inches at 20 yards.

My eye doctor figured out that I have 'central vision' (neither eye dominant - a rare but distinct condition). The remedy he gave me was to wear a blinder on my hat near my left eye. That worked awesome. I can shoot with both eyes open, increasing my field of view at the shoot and improve my shooting form at the same time. I will post a picture later tonight of the modifications I made to my hunting hats.
