I'm having trouble finding/choosing archery season elk hunting boots for Colorado.

I'm planning an archery OTC elk hunt in Colorado 2017. The GMUs I'm leaning towards (but subject to change) are near the San Juan mountains and the Unacompaghre mountains. I need boots that will hold up in the rugged terrain. My problem is I'm unsure if I will be able to make elk hunting a long term activity worth investing hundreds of dollars on clothing and equipment (i.e. honking boots) that I may not have the opportunity to experience again in the near future.

I've gone with Lowa Men's Tibet GTX Trekking Boot and I can't be happier. Required very little to break in and they fit me fine.

everyone's feet are different. My feet don't like Lowa but they love meindl. if you're looking for a one time use boot try looking on ebay or on here for used boots.

For not breaking the bank on something you may not do every year I like the Cabela's roughneck. No not high end mountain boots but way more protection than Kean's or Merrill. I've put about 75 miles on mine so far with no leaks or seam problems. Don't feel the rocks through the soles. Better than average tread depth. Not slippery on wet rocks. They run about $120 available with or without steel toe.

No sir. I put my of my miles on my military boots. I've wore Danner and Rocky military boots. Both held up very well. But I have yet to purchase hiking boots from either company.
