Ok! Here’s the story I messed up but plan on making the best of it! I gave or guy behind counter punched in wrong control hunt number! (No I didn’t check it but the line behind me was a hour long) But I’m going to make the best of it!! I know sounds crazy but it’s true! I’m looking for a little insight and .what caliper if bucks am I looking at running into??? Any help is appreciated I normally scout an area the year before putting in for a controlled hunt! But not this unit! I’ve never been there! This might be a blessing in disguise! Always wanted to try different areas so this my chance!

Regular archery season is open Aug 30 to Sept 30 as well. It's just that it's a two point area. So your advantage is you can shoot a bigger buck. Archery elk is also going on as well as controlled bear. Lots of company. There are some big bucks in there but they are very scarce and hard to find,

How is the access and best way to get in! I generally put on 10-15 miles a day for elk season so plan on the same for this! Is it best to access some further away areas via boat up the river or what??

It will be HOT. Triple digits at the lower elevations and eighties or better up high. 100+ down by the river. Get high and glass early and late.

It's hard to get away from the crowd in 22. It's not a big unit and it's heavily roaded. Early is going to be key for you. Velvet bucks are easy to pattern, it's much tougher after they have rubbed off.
