Idaho Unit 1

I have never really hunted unit 1 in Idaho. This weekend I took my boys and hiked around a bit. Have heard here and there about mule deer but not much info about elk. I am interested in the areas east of highway 2. We only cut one set of elk tracks and no real sign other than deer. The local biologist didn't have much to say about the elk population. Anyone have some info? Any elk bugling over there this year? Just look for general info. Thanks

Been silent as heck up there for me...other than wolves. Fresh dog sign everywhere.

Yep.

I've actually hunted/been on Elk hunts in 3 units so far this year, 2 in South/Central Idaho and one in North Idaho and all 3 had a common theme....lots of wolves and lots of people.

Ya this is my third unit as well. Wolf sign is definitely in abundance. Lots of out of state. Have seen vehicles from Washington, Oregon, Montana, Arizona and California.

Unit 1 still holds elk and I saw a 350 6pt last yr hunting muleys but thery are few and far between and hidden in some very difficult places.....good luck
