I forgot about had brother. Are you on the east side coming up from Dixie? There’s a terrible road that way which I haven’t taken but heard horror stories about. Somewhere in that area the kid of the film crew took off last year and was never found. Crazy.
No, it's in the Concord Mining District, Southwest of Orogrande. The road in there is absolutely miserable, one section is aptly named "Devils Staircase"

@Chase_D , You're a long ways away, but if you were able to take a few days in the summer to travel the Magruder Corridor, that would give you a general idea of the area. As others have suggested, Google Earth doesn't show how big this country is. When you hunt one basin and find that there aren't any animals there, it may take a whole day to hike into another, only to find the same. Staying mobile in these wilderness zones is essential and being on foot is more than a challenge. However, it can be done.

Hunt the fringes would be your best bet without stock. I hunted there back in 2007 and killed a 5x5. Only elk I saw. The wolves came in and decimated the kill site after I got the the meat out. The wolves followed me back to the trailhead. The next day I went back to the kill site to kill me some wolves but never had a shot. I was only two miles in. Great hunt with even better country. Worth going. Hunt hard hunt and smart and you will be fine.

Me and buddy both killed nice bulls way back in there in 2005. Horrible country!! Some of the roughest ive seen . We used an outfitter, flew in to Fish Lake, took horses 4 hours in. Got into a LOT of elk , tagged out on 3rd day. Buddy killed a 362, to this day the biggest that outfitter had killed in there. Outfitter stopped hunting in there back in 09, due to extremely low elk population due to wolves.
