Idaho NR general tag going to draw?

Take the days off and go. It’s an effort equals reward system. Now general areas are going to become like region G and H in Wyoming. Have fun hunting every 8 years.

I’ll tell my buddies from Indiana to fly on out, hope they get a good spot in line, and a clerk who knows his stuff..

They could easily run the numbers of how many they bought the last 3 years.

And give them that many.

Then it would encourage an outfitter even more.
Especially if they required a contract to apply.

It’d be hard to do, then you have to count the ones they give to friends, which I’ve gotten before several times.

That’s why this is going to have a hard time getting through. Until they feel like they are made whole, outfitters are going to fight this kicking and screaming.
**** the outfitters
How do we make sure that outfitters don’t run f&g. That is some high level corruption if they don’t fix a system that’s broken because it benefits a bunch of pretentious babies

I don’t think that outfitters run IFG, however most are from smaller towns and have close ties to their legislator. We’ve watched for the last few years, when someone doesn’t get what they want, they whine to their representatives and get bills introduced at the statehouse. The commission was set up to insulate against that, but at the end of the day, they are all politically appointed.
Whether we like it or not, that’s how the system works.

That’s what most people who got a tag did. It’s pretty easy.

It’s f’n retarded is what it is.

Take 3 days off work on a hope and a prayer.

The same people that advocate for bonus points being unfair somehow think this is a good way to do it? I couldn’t think of a more fd up way to do it short of having a monkey wandering around handing out tags.

Well now you won’t be able to get a tag so have fun with that.

There was no “hope and prayer” You got in line and got a tag. It was simple. Now it’ll be another draw mess.

Absolutely was if you actually had a unit you wanted to hunt, I waited in line a few times to get elk tags in a not particularly popular capped unit for my nr buddies, never once got it but it’s where our resident group hunts. Deer tags disappear in popular units in minutes.

If you want a 39 deer or whitetail tag there’s a chance, anything decent is gone in 60 seconds.

It’s not much different than the sawtooth goat fuk for residents..

but you can still get a tag. A draw isn’t going to put popular units in your pocket every year. Or ever. If you’re a resident then you should know how often we draw tags. I only apply for tags with around 20% odds and havnt seen one in 6 years.

I want to hunt with my nr friends and family, but I’m also too selfish to go hunt some an overcrowded unit or a place I don’t know with them.

Draw tags here are hard to get because there isn’t many of them and in the spirit of not having draw tags we’ll all be hunting with sling shots and long bows in the next 10 years.

They are to blame for plenty, but this one falls mostly on the loud and lazy people that don't want to put in the effort to get a tag.

But you see, in that case it's not an "effort" system, it's a "money" system.

Only the people who have the money to pay someone to stand in line, or pay for the travel (and have the luxury of excess vacation days), or pay an outfitter get tags. The regular Joe is priced out of this system. Maybe you're okay with that. But don't freakin kid yourself that this is a perfectly fair system where anyone can just "put in the effort" and get a tag.. Save your "effort" for the mountain

Those willing to set aside money for travel get a tag. It’s an effort system. I know lots of guys my age in school getting their out of state tags every year. It’s just what you chose to prioritize.

Sounds like you need to get around Idaho more. I’m hunting the units my non residents friends can get every year and we don’t see any crowds. You have to be flexible to hunt every year.
