Idaho NR fees

I've started to notice the tag fees and all the additional % charged have been going up year after year. I hunted ID last year on a limited tag, only ran into residents complaining how unfair the draw was for them, all stated they wanted a bonus/pref point system. The looks on their faces when I told them what my tag cost was. The truth is many residents in some states are insulated to the true cost of what tags are, it's that way because there is a limited resource, and NR will always pick up that cost.

I was absolutely shocked to see my costs for NV this year, dang near doubled with the new vendor, it's unsustainable.

One of the guys we hunt with is a resident of ID. He nearly shat his pants when I told him non-res lic/archery stamp/deer/elk cost me nearly a grand. He gets all of that and more for less than 200. I just see it as an overtime shift but yeah, it ain't cheap. Eventually the non res prices will hit a breaking point.

I don’t like that I can no longer mail in a check and a controlled hunt application. Now I am stuck with a “convenience” fee (certainly not for my convenience) that I could have used on extra super hunt chances. Last year, I heard horror stories about the wait time for credit card refunds. I hope they have the bugs worked out of that process.

Be glad there are no preference/bonus points in Idaho. I have 10 Wyoming moose points and there is no light at then end of the tunnel. Now Wyoming doubled the pp fee so it's a waist of $150 per year with virtually no chance of pulling a tag.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly don't want preference points, however I'd like to have my "convenience fee" returned if I don't draw. If IDFG needs the money, I'd rather pay more for the tag. I've already bought my license and elk tag, but couldn't stomach the $100 at a 1/20 chance or less.
