Anybody get out for the rifle opener yesterday?
I made a quick trip to the mountains Sunday night and woke up Monday ready to glass up some bucks. Woke up at 5 AM and was shocked at how warm it was in the mountains, I didn't even need a jacket as I was getting my gear ready. Hiked 1000' above camp as it turned into another 80 degree day and didn't see many animals moving around at all. Coolest thing I saw was a preying mantis on the ridge. Had many hunters in the unit traveling on dirtbike trails and didn't hear a single shot crack off.
Are these warm temps getting you discouraged for your upcoming hunts? Changing tactics? I'm going to wait a couple of weeks and hope we have a break in the heat and get some weather moving in.
