Idaho HB232 90/10 NR participation.

Cliffs? Can't read it on a phone
This legislation seeks to improve resident hunter experience by reducing nonresident crowding without
substantially negatively impacting Department of Fish and Game revenue. All hunts will be capped at 10%
nonresident participation. This legislation also seeks to deregulate the outfitting industry by ending the
allocation of elk and deer tags, and providing them a marketing opportunity to tag buyers who opt in

FISCAL NOTE

The fiscal impact is expected to be net neutral once the legislation is fully implemented. The Department of
Fish and Game relies heavily on nonresident tag sales for revenue. This legislation will result in the decrease
of up to $7 million in tag sales. This will be offset by selling left over tags to residents as second tags and by increased license sales to nonresidents.

Legislature needs to butt out of wildlife management no matter the topic. The last thing we need is politicians making these decisions. It’s a dangerous precedent that leads to decisions made on hysteria vs sound science. This type of thing should scare the shit out of Idaho residents.

Absolutely agree. We can’t get those yahoos back home fast enough. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

Won’t pass because of the outfitter language is my guess. They have a powerful lobby and already have two bills washing my for more tags. Outfitters want more than they currently have.

Or it will be amended to include carve outs for outfitters.

Passing legislation is like making sausage. The finished product looks nothing like what you start with.

Exactly. Don't care what this bill says, didn't even read it. Even if it's exactly what we as sportsmen are wanting, this should be handled by our fish and game commission.

They also introduced a bill with the goal of making the IDFG director a governor appointed position. Taking the authority away from the commission. Call your legislators and tell them to shut that bullshit down.

The bill is SB1078

It's a better resident experience if the crowding is from residents?
That was my first thought. Non residents have been capped for decades. If they want to improve the residents experience while maintaining revenue they will need to up their license and tag cost (or the nonresidents preferably) while capping them at the same time. I don’t like that, but the overcrowding isn’t from nonresidents.

That bill did not make it out of committee, thank God
