Idaho draw results are finally up.

I got drawn for unit 27-5, the Frank Church area. Pretty pumped, it should be a lot of fun!

Congrats!
I have been in that part of the unit (27) a few times and really liked the terrain. I never saw any goats, but I wasn't really looking for them either. I was actually planning on applying for that unit next season, so if you don't know where to start I can PM you some ideas and access points. The IDFG will probably have better info., but it's my understanding that they haven't surveyed goats in that unit in a long time and the harvest isn't consistent.

I hunted sheep in there in 2012 also! I think its a better goat unit than sheep though. You will work hard for them but they are a bit more predictable than the sheep in that unit. I will be going back for sheep as soon as I can draw again. It is as tough as it gets. I heard my pilot died this year though?

Very cool! If you feel so inclined, drop me a PM with ridgelines or peaks where you saw goats! Good luck drawing sheep again, sorry to hear about your pilot!

I will look at my maps and notes then drop you a line. Yeah me too. He and two November elk hunters ended up biting the dust in some bad weather. I had talked to him about that and he had been doing that trip for twenty years. Said in the winter of 2011 he made three trips a day from Stanley to the lodge taking concrete. Something like 100,000 pounds or something. I have video of our flight in. It wasnt exactly "smooth."

Congrats on the tag! I have never seen that many goats in there but I have heard about some good ones.

That's was a real bad deal with the plane going down, the guys on the strip thought I was part of it because I didn't show up last year and they heard it was a couple of guys from my area.
