Idaho fires

I saw a bunch of guys from Steelhead firefighters in Meridian today but they had already left when I walked out of the store. I was going to ask them where they were off to…

How are you guys with sawtooth rifle tags planning to hunt this year? My guess is with the loss of 200k acres hunters will more concentrated that normal this year. Anyone just staying home?

Was curious about this same thing. Ive been keeping an eye on the wapiti fire. They just opened up a little more land but its still pretty crazy

Fires are going up here on the day the wind is blowing like hell. One is 10 miles as the crow flies from us. Luckily cooler temps and rain are coming.

And I just mentioned to my wife earlier this week that we've had a calm fire season, and now we have a fire thats cooking within few hours just north of CDA. The rock fire is also taking off. Be interesting to see what all takes off by the end of tomorrow, at least we have cooler weather expected.

Im in SE Idaho, we dont have many fires down here, luckily. Headed toward Salmon for the weekend. Everyone stay safe!

Island fire put one hell of a column up well until after the sun went down yesterday. Day before was putting up a column also. Visibility was atrocious today in my neck of the woods from it.

The drive to the Race Creek trailhead is going to look different for the rest of our lifetimes. The area that burned in 2015 is burning again.

Heading up that way tomorrow for the weekend. It ruined one ride i had planned for that side. Wife and I are going to do a hike south of it to one of the lakes
Before the texans moved in, I spent alot of time on the Council side of that country... SITPA is doing their best to not let that beast loose. Hopefully they can keep it from crossing over the Donnelly/MF road. If it gets to that side, it might be a long fall.

After not drawing any tags for elk, was looking at spending time there again. The few spots I know are burned up.
I archery hunted near this area for alone time. Killed 6. Bulls back there. Quit hunting it because of the pressure and wolves. I havnt heard it's gotten any better. Hiked back into blue lake today with the wife and smoke was pretty bad. Road was worse, lost a tail light due to the washboards. Still a good time.

Ya for sure. Smoke it pretty bad. Definitely not the worst I've seen. Blue lake was nice. Bless those men and women it's hot as balls here and fighting a fire right now would be miserable

I was on the four corners fire south of there in 2022 that basically burned until the snow fell.

Between the 4 corners, Lava and Rock fires, West Mtn has been raked over the coals.
I built a bunch of roads back in 96 or 97 on State ground where Tamarack is now. We hauled out a ton of Tamarack firewood while we were in there.
