Idaho 45 Bow Mule Deer

I want to preface this with a couple things because I understand this unit is touchy to some. I am new to hunting threads in general. I have found information about the muzzy hunt in this area but very little about the Bow hunt.

I got extremely lucky and drew the bow hunt for this unit. I have spent time in the unit for the past couple years in the off seasons to learn the land. I havent been able to be there during season. I would like to learn more about the deer patterns in this area during mid august-mid septemeber.

I am not looking to be handed a hunt. I will be in the unit once a week, a couple days at a time, until my hunt starts mid August.
I'll be putting in the work. I have horses to cover as much area as possible. I also plan on walking with the glass.

I am reaching out because I would like to hear from anyone with experience in this unit, especially experience in the bow season.

I see you posted this same exact thing over in the MM forums.

That unit has a decent amount of private land so I would get OnX if you don't have it already. I would also call the local biologist and see where that gets you. You will learn a lot if you get boots on the ground as much as you said. That is going to be your best bet. One thing to know is that we had a very hard winter in 2016 and again this year so keep that in mind. It can be a very good hunt. Get out and scout as much as you can and you should do alright.

Jealous of you man! I had the rifle tag last season. Killed my buck the 7th or 8th day into my trip. Only saw one other "shooter" and passed on him the first day I was there. It all holds deer just some areas way more than others. I'm sure your cousin will know some good spots to check out but shoot me a pm if you need some more areas to check out scouting.

I hunted the oct. season last year. I believe there is only one season this year. There were four of us who drew and all shot good bucks. We ended up spending a good two weeks there and finally got familiar with the land. I would difinetly consentrate my time at the end of the season.
