I’m seeing on social media that the hound guys don’t want a year-round season. I wouldn’t think that enough cats would get killed on the ground to where it affects dog season.

Not really surprised you are seeing that. They generally just want as many cats as possible. They rarely kill what they tree and won’t kill a female. They’re like buck hunters. Ehhh no thanks kill more females.

Lions aren’t going anywhere. The idea of too many getting killed spot and stalk is so hilarious.

According to surveys looks like SW Idaho Elk are up. Not too sure about that. Must be a long migratory herd

I think the population is up, they just happen to be all on private ground.

Open season on lions, presumably to help out deer and elk numbers. At the same time, adding thousands of doe and cow elk tags with longer seasons. Seems counterproductive, but I suspect my comments will be ignored....

there are general otc cow hunts now. IDFG is looking at getting rid of them. Those otc cow hunts have been around for a very very long time.

To add a fun twist the state legislature introduced a bill last Friday to place a moratorium on all mule deer doe hunting in a bunch of SW and Magic Valley units. IDFG wants to kill more does and the legislature is pushing a bill to kill 0 does

I am looking at the Upper Snake unit, and I see the same controlled cow hunts with more tags, along with several new hunts. Same with the doe deer hunts.
