Id panhandlers muleys

Ive been following your thread b0nes and coop trying to learn from your outings. Looks like youre kind of in the same boat. Im yet to get in any mule deer myself. Think im going to just go hard at whitetail with my two tags as the rut picks up. Have you seen any rutting activity? I believe it starts a little later up here than a lot of the country? Looking forward to my first rut up here! Are you guys also going after elk in Dec?

I thinking starting this coming weekend I'm going to start whitetail hunting the areas I've found, next year I will pre scout and have a better plan hopefully, if I don't draw a sheep or moose tag. I've found some rub lines in the Selkirk that are unbelievable in the Selkirk.

I'd definitely like to get on some scouting next year if you want to get together. I have a few places in mind that the game warden mentioned. Good luck with the Whitetail. I passed on a real nice young deer last week that had never shown on my cams so I definitely think they're moving more now.

I was just up in unit 1 also. Pretty slow for us too. Found some neat drainages though. I'd be in for a scouting trip as well if you wanted another guy along. Pm me. I can help with some good whitetail spots for you if needed.

Man I miss hunting the Panhandle. Keep an eye out for whitetail, some of the largest in the state come out of the areas between Sandpoint and Bonners. I did some scouting a few times up the Pack River drainage and Caribou creek but never found much. I'm sure there are some toads in the Seven Sisters areas but the deer are few and far between.

My dad killed this 176" whitetail near Colburn a few years back.

We found this buck dead off Caribou Creek while hunting moose a few years ago. 188" net, looks like wolves got him. Damn shame.

Man those are some toads. The splits on your dad's and the mass on the found one make me want to go out right now and just wait till dawn! Did your dad kill that in Nov?

Mid November IIRC. I hung that stand in early august and hunted it several times with no luck. He hunted it once:cool:

I told myself I was just going to focus on whitetail since I have them around my house and can hunt out my back door.. Then I get dang pics of bucks taken one ridge over from where I hunted and it makes me want to go north and chase them some more.. So frustrating but just a matter of time and being in the right place before it happens. I think.. Haha
