I was going to buy a white mountain ice cream maker for the family, they appear to be out of stock everywhere. Anyone with experience of other brands. The cheap ones on cabelas and the like have terrible reviews…
If you like your ice cream "thicker" buy a 1.5gal maker and only make .75-1gal. The motor is made for pull of 1.5gal, so will turn longer on a small batch
I would hold out for the white mountain…. I finally found one in September and it is very high quality and well made. I’ve made three batches so far that everyone agrees is the best consistency. We have tried three other cheaper ones which worked ok but not great.
I have the normal cheap unit you get at big stores and it works fine. It’s just a wood bucket, aluminum can, and motor with plastic paddle. Had it for maybe 15 years.
