I swallowed the entire Rokslide pill…

I’m being rude. I didn’t congratulate coastrange on his cool new rifle. Congrats man. Seems like an awesome rig.

I have two tikkas, and I’ve become a fan. I’ve never thought tikkas were ugly. I keep looking at pics of the rokstock and trying to like it… haven’t got there yet. Does it have a great personality?

In all seriousness I’m curious about this. Has anyone swapped out their factory tikka stock for a rokstock and that being the only component swapped, had a major difference in their shooting accuracy, ease of target acquisition/reacquisition, or other?
Measurable improvement on target? No. In part because I don't measure and record much. But, it feels better and I prefer it over factory quite a bit. I'm pretty sure I spot shots better and shoot in field positions better, but that 8s based on perception, not data.

I have long said it is the ugliest rifle (Tikka), with the ugliest scope (SWFA), in the ugliest stock (Rokstok).

None of them look as ugly to me any more. I have become rathe found of my homely rifles and even starting to like how they look. Might be a sign of dementia.
It's kind of like how just about everyone thinks their own child is cute... I have 8 Rokstok children and every single one of them is ugly in it's own way.

The wood one is kind of cute but still has those "fugly" genetics at its core.

You can bank on the stock mitigating recoil to around a "cartridge less" essentially, in shooting heavy for caliber bullets.

As an example, a 6.5 CM shooting 147's will have recoil mitigation and reticle jump/target re-acquisition closer to a 6CM shooting 108's. This is of course "generalized" but has been seen in dozens of shooters trying the Rokstoks and shooting the same gun but in a different stock back to back.

This is especially noticed when shooting from less than ideal shooting positions (not on a bench or prone with a bipod).

That’s all I do to tikkas unless they don’t come in a caliber I’m looking at (6 creed and 22 creed). I don’t mess with triggers or rails or bottom metal. The rokstok gives me better ergos, and I feel better behind it. The staying on target is definitely better, but how much, I don’t know.

As a real world example I shot my mule deer buck this year at 398 yards, front supported by a tree, rear unsupported, and the reticle never came off the deer. I watched the whole sequence through my scope. For me, 6.5 PRC is normally at the higher end of spotting my shots in compromised positions. But I don’t feel that way with the rokstok

Of all your "Rokstok children" the wood one looks like it might be your most successful child. It took me over a year to finally decide to order an OG rokstok. So ugly, I couldn't talk myself into it. I received it last week and it is almost uglier in person 🤣. Hoping some makeup (paint) makes it less ugly. Has some imperfections, but nothing major imo. Hopefully have it assembled in a month and test out it's function.

Watching how the tikkas kept at it at the AZ meet up convinced me that Tikkas are legit. The dust blew a gust of Sonoran's finest across me when prone, enough that all went dusty brown haze, like being buried. Non issue out there for that system.

I now have 4 Tikka’s. I agree with the statements above regarding the looks. The physical appearance is not appealing. I felt that Dieter from Sprockets designed the rifle. Once I bought one I truly enjoyed the action of the bolt. Just easier to operate than my REM 700 style.

I’ll buy one more unless someone can provide a load for a 6.5CM 147’s in a 16” barrel producing 2800 fps. If not then I’ll have to pick up a PRC.
That’s going to require a prc I think, my 16” 6.5cm does around 2470 with 140’s factory of course

Initial shooting was great just loaded up 55 gr. And stuck to mag length. Boy was it slow the 10 round average was 2541! So now I threw in the long bolt stop and have a long action mag.

COAL seems to be about 3.010" to the lands. I have read that jump doesn't matter to much with these but where do I begin?

I have read almost every thread from rokslide to long range hunting to snipers hide. Any input would be great just hanging in the shop tinkering after way to much food today
