She was driving a 4-wheeler, and he was riding behind her when a deer ran out in front of them and hit them.

Update from his wife this morning.

Nate’s doing really good considering. He's starting to become more and more awake but unfortunately that means dealing with the headache. He's talking more. Asking for ibuprofen and water. He can have water now and has done well with that but doesn't understand why he can't have ibuprofen since he "takes it all the time" (that’s the good ol’ Nate we know!). He’s had a bit of a restless night but his care team is doing a great job. They gave him a little morphine last night to take the edge off and this helped him get lots of rest which was an answer to prayer.
