I strongly advise against FFP scopes on hunting rifles for this very reason.
The reticles on FFP are for dialing against a contrasting background.
For my eyes, a bold SFP reticle is much better for hunting.

That's only because they don't make FFP reticles for hunting.
They really need to, but they don't.
