The "problem"

Winchester Model 70 super Grade 7mm Rem Mag with BOSS system
Graduation present and want to keep in original configuration
Great shooter with BOSS, well under 1 MOA with typical results of .6 to .75 (not a problem)
24" barrel, 26" with BOSS installed, 9/16-24 thread pitch
F...........ing...........LOOOOOUD
Do not want to cut down to establish proper shoulder for an old 9/16-24 direct thread 30 cal. can I have

Solution:

Some Jedi in this forum knows a manufacturer or custom shop that will sell or produce an abortion of an adapter that will thread female 9/16-24 to male 9/16-24 with proper shoulder

You cannot have an adapter with the same thread pitch inside and out.

Does your can have a HUB mount. If so, get one that is 5/8-24 and get a 9/16-24 to 5/8-24 adapter.

Or just forget the internet BS about “proper shoulder” and thread your can on, snug it up, and shoot it.

Not goona lie. The thought of a m70 supergrade with a can hanging off of it. Gives me the same heebee jeebee's as all those tacticool lever guns...dont do it bro :ROFLMAO:

I assume you are thinking of something like this but made for rifles? I’m sure any decent machinist could make a female to male adapter like this with suitable materials.

Yeah, OP, that sounds like a cool gun, but that might be a bit of a tough one, if not an outright money pit to do right. Especially if the BOSS has a lot to do with that individual gun's accuracy. Have you ever grouped it with the BOSS off?

You need to look for the BOSS CR. CR is for conventional recoil. It's basically a brake without holes that still fits the thread and tunes.

My father has a Winchester 70 all weather with a boss. It is threaded 9/16-24 as well and has a super long tenon. Also there is a plastic “key” in the tenon. This must give some resistance to the BOSS threading.

Well I bought a HUB mount for 9/16-24 threaded it on, threaded on a suppressor and quit worrying about it. The rifle shoots awesome even with a heavy suppressor on a light barrel.

Long time Boss owner from when Browning 1st introduced them on the Abolt back in the 90's. My Abolt @ medallion 7 mag came with both the ported brake, which I immediate took off (as you said very loud) and installed the CR brake. If you would like, I can take a pic of my Browning box it came in. It has the different model numbers for the different calibers. The CR tuner is basically like the EC tuner. And it works. I still to thid day get .5 moa out of hand loads for mine and its a 30 years old gun. The barrel thread have a slot in it. There is a plastic strip that goes in there to make turning the tuner hard. It gives it a lot of resistance. I lost mine, contacted browning and was told to use weed eater string. Did that and works great.

If you have a blued M70, the 7mag version is R720BP, for Matte M70, R720BM and if you have a SS M70, get R720BS. and yes, its 9/16-24 threads
