For this Toyota owner "long in the tooth" hopefully won't start until 250,000.That’s nothing honesty, unless you just want a new truck!
Yeah, the thimble.sized gas tank is annoying.I bought a 2024 Tacoma TRDOR in 2024. Currently has ~33k on the odometer. No issues so far. I came from an F150, I do miss the interior room sometimes but what I don't miss is driving around a massive vehicle day to day. Fuel economy is a wash between them, I was getting low 20s in the F150 and I get low 20s in my Tacoma. The fuel tank size is also lame, I believe it's 16 gallons. I wish it were 18 or 21.
Otherwise I have no complaints.
Them leaf springs man. Catastrophic and super expensive. You will be lucky to come out ahead offering this deal. No, he’s about to have catastrophic failure. @mtwarden send me your address and I’ll arrange for a tow truck to come get it. I’ll cover all expenses![]()
I’m a Toyota tech and we have seen very few issues with these trucks. Other than recalls that Toyota takes care of. Besides that they have positive reviews from our customers. The cabin space is a bit lackluster for my liking, but if you drive a Tacoma now it’s not much different. When I first asked it was pretty new; now with a few years under it's belt—curious what folks think. My 2012 is getting a little long in the tooth and I'm getting closer to picking up a new one.
Thanks!
the 2nd gens (up until 2022) have MTs i think.I’d look at them, but would really like to stick with a manual if possible
I have heard the gearing on 4th gen manuals is terrible (no personal experience). I'm happy with my 6 cylinder manual 3rd gen. I removed the accumulator, did an ECU tune, and got a heavy shift knob to smooth out gear transitions. None are needed, but all three improved the driving experience.I’d look at them, but would really like to stick with a manual if possible
