I am been looking to build a new rifle winter to replace my 7mm-08 and noticed the 6.5 prc doesn’t beat it by much in Nosler?

I’m no ballistician, but the 6.5 has a little bit better BC and is little faster. For me, it’s not enough of an upgrade to switch from my 7-08 (which shoots the 140 AB quite well). That being said, if I was starting from scratch, I’d go PRC.

My brother’s Tikka gets 2932 fps with the 156 EOL. The ballistics surpass the 7mm Rem Mag load using 162 ELDX.

Seems to shoot pretty straight, dunno how the bullet will perform.

If I was building a 5ish lb rifle it would be a 6cm or .25cm. I believe Hornady is officially releasing .25cm in 2024 so it will have factory supported ammo options.

I worked up to pressure then backed off and loaded a seating depth test. The above pic was the longest OAL.

Start low and work up.

3.130” is a looooong cartridge.

I have a 6.5 PRC, it's freaking awesome for deer. But I have a short action M70 action and I was looking at a 7 SAW. I think I'd go that route before 7-08. Especially since you can use small rifle primers. West TX also has ready to load brass. Basically seems like a better take on the 7-08.

I am wondering how the tikka in a 6.5prc is for reloading? Is there much room in the magazine to seat the bullets further out?

I own both. Inside of 300 yards you won't notice a difference. Beyond that, I shoot the PRC much better. I haven't noticed much difference on game- they both kill very effectively.

And that length fits fine in a stock tikka?

Tikka mags should be good for a coal of 3.33" assuming it's the same mid-length action as the .30-06 & 7 Rem Mag. I've loaded some rounds for my 6.5x55 longer than 3.15" and had plenty of room to spare.
