Which of these would you take for elk? 500yds is my absolute limit & this will be the 'hunt of a lifetime'. Well, it won't, but let's say it was for the sake of arguing 😁

Rifle 1:

Or, rifle 2:

im a partition fan so i want to say rifle #1 but for once in a lifetime i will say rifle #2. There is a chance that your animal is farther than 500 yards and rifle #1 is running low on velocity.

If it's beyond 500yds, I wouldn't take the shot. That's is my absolute accuracy limit with better than 80% first-hit confidence, assuming a 10" target in any wind. Any further & I'd pass.

They're a possibility for No.1, but not as accurate as the Partitions. They don't shoot at all well in No.2
That is most unfortunate. Either way you should be good. I’d take the rifle I am more comfortable with or one with sentimental value. I would keep the gameking off the shoulder, but I have no experience with it on game. So it may be just fine.

I'd lean towards #2. Less drop at 500 and carries more energy.
