I want you first to look at this video…this is an outfitter carrying a vet to a hilltop for glassing prior to undertaking a spot and stalk hunt.

The outfitter’s name is Scotty Dunton and he has personally assisted several wounded warriors fulfill their hunting dreams. Guys like this:

Scotty is a big man with an even bigger heart (second from left)…
…and this is his website: http://duntonranch.net. Some hunts are canned and some are not, depending on the situation.
He is donating his time and resources to the Veteran’s Sportsman Alliance who provides a seemingly endless number of wounded warriors to him. He is one of a handful of such guides VSA gets support from. I think it’s great!
Last week I found I was unable to go on my elk hunt but learned I could transfer the tag to a wounded warrior (which I did through VSA). It felt good knowing the tag wasn’t being wasted and was helping out a vet. He starts tomorrow, Friday the 13th…I hope he finds the date lucky. VSA also sent me a receipt making the tag tax deductible. If you have a tag you cannot utilize…this is a great way to go.
These guys inspire me and I wanna help the guides and the vets. Carrying em in the way shown in the video looks like a biach for both guide and vet. So I am now trying to gather up some older Duplex frames and discontinued Cargo Chairs for VSA’s guides so they can haul the vets like this:
I have some money squirreled away so if you have a packframe/belt and/or cargo chair you’d like to sell or donate, PM me. Donations will receive a receipt for tax deduction. VSA is getting me the individual measurements of each and every guide they have that is carrying vets on their back so I can get packs that will be properly fitted.
If you wish to support this effort in any other way their site is http://www.veteranssportsmanalliance.org. They are always looking for licensed outfitters/guides willing to take our injured heroes hunting. Even if you just like and share their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/VSAUSA, that’s helpful as it spreads the word on the good deeds these folks do. Our servicemen and women often return home in pain and struggle to do things the rest of us take for granted due to both physical and emotional injuries. This is one way we can show our deep appreciation for their service and sacrifice. Walmart wants you to buy the green lights they sell but I think this is a far more beneficial way to go. Thanks in advance.
