Hunting Tattoos

Yeah tattoos are weird. Everybody who has a crappy one 100% knows it’s crappy but since it’s sort of permanent, they have to act like they like it and defend it. Not all of them are crappy but the majority of them are. I think the problem with hunting tattoos is that people try to capture a moment from a photo or memory and you just can’t do the detail through a tattoo so it looks like cartoon ass. Nobody is going to admit they spent 1000+ dollars on some Jenny watercolor looking piece of garbage that they don’t like.

Like that first one the guy posted….WTH is that??? An upside down skull that’s also the earth with trees growing out of it??? Why would you do that?

I saw one where a guy got a picture of Jim hockey packing out a sheep on his calf. You couldn’t tell it was Jim hockey but it was based on that photo, I mean c’mon you wanted everybody to know you’re a hunter so you tattood a picture of another man on your leg???

That fish one is by far the best one I’ve seen though.
I hear you and that’s a bit why I started this, I haven’t seen many I’ve liked and so thought I’d look for inspiration. Like I mentioned, I have a few. Some better than others but all in all I still enjoy them. I even have a dick on my side (the Vitruvian Man)

I don’t have any. Pretty sure I’d regret anything I got.

I saw a guy with a heartbeat tattooed down his forearm and the blips were in the outline of a deer head kind of like the Browning symbol.

Quality response. I love making fun of people for a variety of reasons.
I personally think more people should get tattoos. I actually thought of getting my dogs paw print on my ass cheek or somewhere nobody would see it but I just never did.

Years ago, like 25 years now I had a friend who was obsessed with that band tool. He swore up and down that there would ever be a point in his life when he wouldn’t love tool.

He got “tool” tattooed across his chest but he also got these weird shriveled head things that had their eyes sewn shut and heroin syringes in their mouths (I think it was artwork from a tool album) on each of his pecs.

Well now he’s 45, he dosent like tool and he dosent take his shirt off at the beach.

Back in my early 20's drinking with my buddies i expressed my interest in getting pistol tats on my pelvis like they were holstered. Old school revolvers. They were all dumb enough to laugh in my face and it changed my mind. It still comes up from time to time now and they all wish they'd of kept their mouths shut. I am however forever grateful that I didn't get a stripper tat in the early 2000's.

I think one of the guys on the Jersey shore show had tattoos of pistols so the handles were sticking out of his pants whenever he was shirtless (the dude was shirtless 100% of the time).

I actually saw a pic randomly of that guy from more recent times, he’s like 70lbs heavier, he wears his shirt now.

My dad would have kicked me out of archery elk camp for that.
i have no tattoos and not really a fan of them. His is a little different, and it could be a lot worse. he has mostly hunted in the timber for blacktail and roseies. when he drew a top antelope tag for Oregon and his hunting experience took a turn. instead of death hikes thru vine maple and devils club for hardly a glimpse, it was extended viewing of the target species. He ended up successful on the hunt and antelope has been our favorite game to eat since. i have yet to let him in on the irony of the barbed wire and the antelope.

Pronghorn hunting is fun, I have some good memories of hunting them with my dad when I was younger. I havnt hunted them since ~ 1998 or so but we used to go after them. My dad got us 2 new rifles back in the mid 90s just for pronghorns, a 257wby for me and a 240wby for him. Both had leupold 4-14 scopes. At the time those felt like sniper rifles. We spent hours shooting steel at 4-500 yards at the sportsman’s club before heading out hunting.

Randomly a few hours ago I was looking into where I could hunt them over the counter with a rifle as a non resident. I’d do it again at some point.

For sure a hoot! his rifle is a ruger American in .270 topped by a redfield with dials.
