I’m thinking of purchasing my first hunting rifle and I have a budget of $1300. Any recommendations for a 6.5 PRC. The $1300 won’t include a scope.

I was looking at a
Bergara B14 CARBON wilderness with a 20 inch barrel.
Tikka roughtech
Browning x-bolt
Weatherby Talon

Fair question. Thinking of a first hunting rifle and PRC might not be the best choice. For all I know he could have bow hunted for 30 years and shot PRS competitions though?

If I was starting over. I'd snag something like that m70 supergrade 243 on gunbroker right now. Or possibly get tuned up on a friday night and blow the budget all to hell on something nicer yet :ROFLMAO:

I saw the tikka on sale and may pull the trigger on it soon. Any thoughts on a 20 inch carbon barrel? I like how light it is but also the maneuverability. Also heard that a shorter barrel is ideal for a suppressor.

I’m referring to the Bergara carbon wilderness exclusive for Sportsman’s warehouse.

I am finding myself going back towards the blued/walnut stuff. But theres certainly no flies on the tikka. 18"-20" makes for a nice handling rifle. Sure wouldnt want more n that if I was running a suppressor

My first hunting rifle, savage axis 270. Less than $400 and killed deer just fine with it. Cheap(ish), light, and worked just fine for years for me.

I'll add you should order a swfa 3-9hd right now while on sale unless you are already set on a scope.
