Trying to find that elusive setup in 308. Been hunting with 300BLK Out and needing something with a little more power. Trying to keep my budget around $1K.

Get a Howa barreled action from brownells and a stockys carbon fiber stock you’ll be at $800

With scope?

No scope needed. Seems like some good hunting rifles being recommended here. Coming from a 300Blk out platform, I'm hoping for some tactical suggestions also, along the line of a Sig Cross or Tikka T3 series (without the heavy price tags).

I love this idea. Has anyone had any experience with these Howa barreled actions? Are they accurate?
I’ve been thinking about a budget 6.5CM just for fun. I was going to buy a Tika T3x (gold standard affordable gun) but this definitely seems more unique and possibly a fun project.

I have a Howa that I prettied up. I have pics in one of my previous posts. I’m getting one moa at 100 yds I imagine the bull barrels would do a lot better.

I've bought three barreled actions from Brownells and they all shot lights-out. In fact, the two mini barreled actions (7.62x39 and a 6.5 Grendel) were two of the most accurate rifles I've ever owned. That Grendel probably was the most accurate rifle I've owned, and I've owned 4 Tikkas and countless Savages. I wouldn't hesitate to get another Howa barreled action from Brownells.

I'm really happy with my Ruger Americans. My latest is a 18" predator in 308. At $500 it's a great value and very handy suppressed. For me, it doesn't make sense to spend more with as good as the americans shoot.

Get a Ruger american and put it in a sharps bros chassis. I want to do this. if you go that route post some pictures

Buy a Tikka T3X Lite (hopefully in stainless). Seriously, in the long run it will blow any of these other suggestions out of the water.

I've got a Christensen. Had 2 Ruger Americans. Currently have a Sig Cross in 308.

Just save yourself in the long term and buy a Tikka.

Yes. I really like the Tikka T3x line; exp. the Tact A1. That's my dream gun, but I don't have the funds for it yet.

I'd stay away from the Tact A1. That's a heavy son of a gun. For the cost of that rifle, you can get a much better hunting rifle by buying a Plane Jane T3X Stainless and then saving for a highend stock or chassis. I've got both the XLR Element 4.0 MG and MDT HNT26.

I've bought multiple T3X's for <$700. Then you add a $1400 XLR chassis = $2100... same price as the A1 and way better chassis system.
