My favorite socks for hard hiking, hunting, etc. are Darn Toughs. The thin ones are great year round, and for a little extra warmth the extra cushion over the calf height socks are great. I've worn some of both for 3-4 days without changing them, just drying for a few hours overnight, and they don't build much odor and still feel great after a couple days. Never got blisters in them either.
Started wearing them when I went to Ranger School, and they are probably all I will hunt in now.
For me the Gore socks have been the best by far. My feet just stay way drier and warmer. Darn tough work and they are a nice sock but my feet always felt cold and clammy. Never had a blister with either. The first lites I tried were too small and tight at my foot and ankle junction so I gave them to my friend. I still can’t figure out why first Lite hasn’t fixed their two size only issue. I also like Lorpen Merino light hikers for a cheaper sock that is similar in thickness to the gore and darn tough micro crew
I own darn tuff, filson, gore, smart wool, and farm to feet.they are all quiality products. But Farm to feet are my go too socks at this point. I like them the best buy far.
The COSTCO merino hikers are cheap (4 pair for $16 in Canada), hold up great for me, and all I wear on backpack hunting trips as well as everyday use. I'll double them up for use in my Muck boots to stop heel slip and blisters. We wash them hot and dry them in the dryer so they stay snug fitting. Good luck with it.
