Hunting Elk 442,441,450,422

Hi I am going to hunt cow elk north of Helena in the HD 442,441,450,422 and was wondering if anyone could tell me something about elk migrations & altitude of the elk in those area at the beginning of Montana rifle season. Never hunted that area. Normally hunt further west. Are most of the elk low on private land? Thanks for any help and good success to you all!
