Hunter ed. is it valid from state to state?

Question. First-ish time applying for a hunting licenses out of my home state. Im from NC and have taken my Hunters Ed course probably a half dozen years ago. I also typically hold a Virginia hunting licenses and recently held an Oklahoma licenses. Now when applying for Virginia and the one time I bought an Oklahoma licenses I didn't have to do anything with my hunter safety number. When applying for Wyoming (which I did and didn't see anything about entering a Hunters ed number), Montana, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho etc... a lot of the applications says that Hunter Safety is required to hunt in that state. Cool, no problem, but is my hunters ed from NC valid for these other states? Or do I have to take their state specific hunters ed program. Or is it like a concealed carry permit. Get one in one state and its good for 20 other states.....

Yes, it is good for every other state. I have been able to purchase a license in a new state with either the hunter's safety card or an old hunting license.

Ok, that's the last thing I want to do is get to Wyoming or another state and get caught with my pants down and not be able to hunt

ok so riddle me this. Since I already have my Hunters Ed, do I need to take the Arizona specific course to be able to receive that extra lifetime bonus point?

should be able to show them the card once and have it on file after that. some agencies will lookup your status in another state for you. utah did that for me when i moved here.

honestly though, most out of state hunter ed numbers are not well checked. a decade back you could enter almost any number and they still let you get a tag. maybe they are better at it now.

Yes. You have to complete the AZ course including the field day.

The only other thing to keep in mind is archery isn't treated the same. You may need to provide an archery tag from your state in order to get an archery stamp or endorsement in another state. Example is Montana. To get the bow stamp, you need to provide either bowhunter ed, or bring an archery tag from your home state.

Yes, in order to get the extra point you HAVE to take the AZ course.
