Hunt Trip Insurance

Anyone booking insurance for hunting trips? I'm looking into it for my NM elk trip...just in case. I'd be curious about recomend companies, experiences, etc.

Any updates here? I have done some salt water fly fishing trips and I know Yellow Dog walked me through insurance. Is there any groups that specialize in trip insurance?

I've never done insurance on a hunting trip, but World Nomads is the most common travel insurance I've heard of. We used it on a 6 month international backpacking trip and had to submit one claim for a stolen cell phone. They were pretty easy to deal with compared to most insurance companies.

AIG - Travel guard. No experience as its my first time using them but they were the cheapest I found and easy to work with. With any insurance it will be up to you to review fine print. But I can say that the standard policy for me covered covid and fire related cancelations, both on my end and my end destination/host. Which seems to be the major hitters. Some companies like to advertise a "cancel any reason" add on perk. From what I read it was a waste. It didn't offer a full refund in certain instances.

I buy airfare insurance and global rescue insurance if SHTF for out of the country trips or Alaskan trips. I however have never purchased hunting trip insurance. Knock on wood... booking with great outfitters is the only insurance I have needed thus far. I have looked though. Make sure you read the fine print and understand the time frames of when the insurance is purchased and when the trip is booked/paid for. I recall something along the lines of if you bought the hunt prior to securing insurance for it or waited so many days/weeks/months after buying the hunt to get insurance that they wouldn’t cover you. Just read the details and make sure you understand when to buy what.
