Hello all, new to the forum. Thinking about Pronghorn hunting in NM next year. I have a land owner tag lined up, does anyone know the average tag cost? ( buying land owner tag) it will be self guided. Just want to make sure we are not overpaying.

Residents seldom get to hunt pronghorn in our own state. The non-resident “hunt clubs” are managed by outfitters generally. The larger ranches have their own “hunt club” managers. The Chair of the Game Commission is a hunt club manager on a ranch that was bought by a non-resident law firm…Obviously there is much angst among the residents. The hunt club members generally have tight lips so as not to upset the little gigs they have going on here. Good luck…

I don't even know what Gila is talking about, you should be able to contact state and get list of landowners that sell tags or receive tags. There are also brokers on sites like monstemuleys.com

You certainly don’t know what I am talking about…Most landowners won’t let people on their property unless they are vetted by their outfitter or hunt club. There is no quota on the number of OTC private land antelope tags sold. The non-resident hunter is issued an authorization number by the outfitter or hunt club and then goes to the DOW web to buy the private land tag. The non-resident antelope hunter pays the published non-resident antelope tag fee for that GMU hunt. Sure you can get a list of landowners from the DOW web. Good luck with that! Getting that list is how I have bought all my antelope tags when not drawn and I have even had several people hold them until drawing to see if we drew.Yes some outfitters have them. I have only antelope hunted in NM about 10 times but never heard of a hunt club. Also some units are a mix of public and private with no markings to show what is what and some of them you can hunt it all with a landowner authorization so make sure your unit rules and permit rules.
