Wow, that is a heck of a discount. It's the previous gen, if that matters. The III is out now. From all accounts, the Steyrs really shoot well.

Some folks say their 1 in 10 twist 243 rifles won't stabilize 100 gr bullets, which are the most common weight of cheap but effective bullets. Twist rate seems a reasonable consideration.
The OP was also about the .223 which is 1:9" twist.

I have stable of Steyr Pro Hunters and Pro Hunter II. My 7RM is 1:9", 300WM 1:10", 7mm08 1:8.7", and .223 1:9". They stabilize everything I need to shoot.

I actually meant to reply to the comment with link to the 243. I have an original prohunter in 308 and a THB in 308. I believe they are 1 in 12 twist and both shoot amazing, but I have not shot over 168 gr ammo through them.

Sounded like a good deal until I read about pressed in barrels and send it back to replace a barrel.
if that is not a concern then certainly a good deal.

1/2x20 would be one of the only potential deal breakers for me. But I suppose that it would be relatively easy to get it chopped to 18-19" and threaded 1/2x28. I'm currently dealing with that on a gun I purchased on a whim (Voere S16 .223) and I'm debating whether to get a 1/2-28 adapter or have it chopped. It's 1:9 or 1:10 because it sends the 77gr through the target sideways. After dealing with the Voere, I don't know if I'd want to gamble on the 1:9 stabilizing the 77gr, but if it didn't I wouldn't feel bad going to a 73 or 75gr ELD.
