I just received some HSM 6.5 Creedmoor ammo that I'll be testing in my Tikka. I'm testing the 130-grain Tipping Point ammunition loaded with the Sierra GAMECHANGER bullets.

I'll also received a box of Trophy Gold loaded with 130-grain Berger bullets and will compare that to the Tipping Point ammo.

If the weather is okay this weekend, I'll test it out at 100 yards before heading into the mountains to shoot it at longer ranges in the coming weeks.

Follow along in this thread to see how it works for me and ask questions. Assuming it shoots well, I'll also be taking it on some deer hunts this fall.

I was able to take a break from yardwork today and do a little shooting at our 100-yard sight-in range.

The test rifle is my Tikka with a Brux barrel chambered in 6.5 CM (with a long forcing cone, similar to a plus P chamber) in an XLR Element 4.0 Magnesium Chassis. This barrel has around 1000 rounds on it without ever having a cleaning rod down it. I've won Open Light in NRL Hunter with it and killed a few deer and a bear with it.

It has shot right at or below 1 moa 10-shot groups with various ammo throughout its life so far. The scope that is mounted on it is an NXS 2.5-10x40 in Exterra Precision Hunter rings.

Today, I shot two 10-shot groups with the Tipping Point and one with Trophy Gold (wanted to save ten of those for some testing at distance.

The first group was a little spread out and slightly larger than typical for the other loads I've shot in this rifle. Just after shooting it, I noticed my suppressor was a little loose. Likely the cause of the group opening slightly.

I made a slight adjustment to my zero and shot another 10-shot group. Much better overall, although I did have one "flyer".

Last, I shot a 10-shot group with the Trophy Gold. This group was right at 1 MOA.

Next will be testing these at longer ranges but I would have zero concerns hunting with either of these options.

trophy gold for the win.

I need to go check my suppressor. So a few times I’ve reached up and it’s been loose. Haven’t own one long enough to think about it all the time. It definitely tightened up your group.

I really want to kill some stuff with those Sierras to see how they perform. The Bergers have always worked well for me.
