HPG windcheater vs Red Kettle M20 wind shell

It does great in the wind and dries fast. I also wear it jogging in the winter and it moves moisture really well. The wind blocking is great without feeling like you are wearing plastic. The durability is decent considering its weight. I try to minimize my time wearing it with a heavy pack, but it has still pilled on the shoulders and in the lumbar region. No tears or anything and I've used it a ton over 3 years.

This is the one I have. Big fan. I got it in the spring and wore it bc skiing a few times and a bunch this fall in a range of conditions. The L35 ventile is the lightest, but the color options are limited. L34 is slightly heavier with more color options (e.g., olive). The moon color isn't terrible in the field though. Hilltrek will do some customization too, and seems like they'll make any of their single ventile pieces with whichever weight ventile you want (they would at least do the Bealach in either L35 or L34, and they added a chest pocket for me).
This with a wool base layer is money for wind, cold, and wet. And you don’t have to be gentle with it. I got mine just big enough to wear a down layer under too, but usually it’s just a wool sweater.

The best clothing purchase I have made for outdoor stuff was a Beyond wind shirt in solid tan from the outlet at like $110. I wear it every time I go out from by itself like a heathen to over a puffy.

I should have bought more while they had solid, camo is weird, and am on the hunt for something that is similar. It is starting to wear across the trap where a pack/bird vest sits. I've been very close to buying a Black Diamond or Mountain Hardwear wind shirt, but haven't.

I'll check out some of these recent suggestions, thanks!

Not sure what the difference is between the L4 Ridgeline and the now-discontinued L4 Ventum, but I picked up a Ventum for myself and the wife for our get home bags / 'stranded in the car bags' when Beyond were closing them out for ... $14.49!

Great piece of lightweight gear, so I picked up a second to have stashed in my everyday bag ... has come in handy a few times, and I wish I'd grabbed a couple of extras. Also makes a serviceable camp pillow. Shame they don't carry it any more.

I hadnt bought any of their non-USA lines, but wish I had.
