One buddy leaving Tuesday and I plan on leaving the following Monday the 10th. Unless I get a call from him then I’ll leave earlier. Going to the lemhi zone. Any bugling bulls? How’s the weather? Fires? Anything else?. Thanks Kevin

Been slow for me, and from what I’ve heard, slow for others as well. I’m hunting 48, and it’s been pretty hot. 80 today, and the heat is supposed to keep up through Friday. I haven’t heard a single bugle, but I could be doing something wrong. Would love to hear from others...

I just got back from Lemhi. No bugles during the day. Couldn't find elk. I heard 1 bugle the first night and 3 the next night.

My buddy and I both killed bulls in that general area the last couple of days. Only heard a few bugles, but don't let that stop you. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Didn't hear a single bugle all weekend, but they should be getting into it by the time your coming out. Was able to put the spot and stalk to work and arrow a bull, but it just ain't quite the same as hearing them scream all over.

Had elk Bugling on Saturday evening, nothing aggressive, just sounding off, went back yesterday and saw cows but no bugles. It's still in the 80's during the day which may explain the low activity?

Anyone in the 23 ( mcall ) area, heading there on Tuesday, hoping the fires haven’t pushed them out.

I'm in 48 in Idaho too and have not heard a bugle yet. I have seen elk almost every day and watched them from a distance. I know of 2 different guys who have killed bulls here so far. 1 guy said there were a group of 3 with the one he killed bugling 1st thing in the morning, I believe that was last sunday. The other one I just saw the head sticking up out of the back of his truck as he was driving out of camp.

Elk were responsive in 9. I called in 3 bulls in 3 days but a 330 made an appearance and I am ruined for the smaller bulls now!

Called two bulls into range last Friday. Missed one and couldn't get a shot on the second, ugh! Got into elk Saturday and Sunday but they were shy and didn't want to socialize. I've been finding if you can find a herd with multiple bulls and few cows that you will get competition and action. If I find a single bull with a cow or two then they push off at the first bugle as to avoid confrontation. Even when making only the initial call, we have not been able to catch up to them. It should be turning on soon though and bulls will be more anxious to join the action.
