I just bought one of these and set it up two days ago. There are a couple of other threads, on which I will probably comment in the future; but, I thought this was such a high quality tool and a high quality experience, it deserved additional exposure by a separate thread from your average huckleberry like me. Let me just say, color me impressed.
First, the workmanship is stellar. Second, being able to talk personally to the owner/manufacturer of the press is greatly appreciate and, frankly, a pleasure. Third, the press was extremely easy to assemble and frankly, based on its construction and maneuverability, it is easy to find a spot or multiple spots for its use.
Like a kid on Christmas, I just had to put it to use immediately, even though I didn’t have a real need to do so right away. I pressed three separate bows for no other reason than to just do it AND ran a couple through the attached draw board. Just wow. I even removed and replaced a peep sight on a bow I’m in the middle of setting up just to do it.
I’ve used multiple different presses over the years and this is just exceptional. I just don’t know how, for the money, one could ever do better than this. Yes, all presses out there will press your bow. However, the ability to swivel this one, tilt this one, roll it back out of the way when not using it, freeing up bench space, and using the attached and rotatable draw board are extras that just amaze me and make me wish this was available 40 years ago when I fist started tinkering with my own gear.
I don’t know how you could do better for the money. I just ordered the Total Vise today and look forward to receiving and using it. Keep in mind I’ve only had the press for two days; but, I’m happy to answer any questions any of you may have. Mr. Howard and his wife (Jeff and Anne) are simply outstanding individuals who are ready, willing, and able to talk or correspond via e-mail with you. If you are looking, you owe it to yourself to at least review the videos online and the threads here and on Archery Talk before spending your hard earned money. Yes, I’m going to post this exact same thread on Archery Talk.
