Howa SuperLite Short Gen2 .243

I’ve decided to share my “build” of my new Howa SuperLite Short Gen 2 in .243. It has a 16.25” barrel that is threaded 1/2”-28. It utilizes a new HS Precision stock built for the Howa SuperLite platform.



Bare rifle weight - No magazine or thread protector.



Rifle weight with empty magazine.



Rifle weight with magazine and 1/2-28 to 5/8-24 thread adapter.



Rifle weight with magazine, thread adapter, and Wyoming Arms 4 squared Titanium can.



Complete rifle weight with magazine, thread adapter, Wyoming Arms 4 squared can, Talley lightweight alloy scope mounts, and Leupold VX3HD 2.5-8x36 CDS-ZL scope.

I will be starting to reload for it shortly and will update my results. I plan to reload bullets in that 75-95 gr. range.

New factory rifle or upgraded with a new stock? The HS stock makes me want one more than the Stockys stock did.

A little update on Project SuperLite.

I’ve tried a bunch of loads with 90 gr. TGK(GameChangers), 90 gr. ELDXs, and 87 gr. V-Maxs using Ramshot Hunter and H4350. Everything is loaded at 2.800” COAL

Every load with Hunter shot quite poorly for accuracy and consistency, so that powder is out.

Near max with 90 gr. ELDXs/ H4350 shot 0.75” group with ridiculously low SD of 0.2 FPS and ES of 0.3 FPS for three shots. 3125.2 FPS average. I will be loading up 10 rounds to validate the data and get a 10 shot group. 87 gr. V-Max showed similar results with the same charge weight.

I will be fine tuning some loads with the TGK and V-Max on my next set of days off!
