I decided I needed to try a binocular harness. I have a handful I will be testing (6 at the moment), but very limited testing. I want one that I will like. This isn't a review of the industry favorites, shoot it isn’t even a real review. I am just doing some testing.

Rules and what I want:

  1. It has to enclose the binoculars.
  2. It must have some additional storage and have some way of carrying a rangefinder, although straps are acceptable for the rangefinder.
  3. Must be comfortable.
  4. Must hold position once put on.
  5. Most do not cause a pain point or discomfort when I put a backpack on.
  6. It needs to be quiet.
  7. The main pouch cannot be zippered.
  8. Will fit and be useable with both an Athlon Midas 8x42 and an Athlon Cronus G2 10x42. It may be nice to later fit a 12x50… but that isn’t a requirement. One bino at a time is obvious.
  9. Must not block the use of a bow.
  10. Reasonable weight.

What other things would you look at? Only testing the harnesses that I have in my hands now...

Fit, movement (how well it stays in place), noise, ease of one-hand use, etc.

Do recommend searching for binoculars harness reviews online, both on this site and others, for additional ideas on how to test/evaluate a binocular harness.

Belly crawling does binos fall out or not on an archery stalk. Does it stay in place or loosen up through out the day (my agc had these probs) my marsupial did not.

remember, you're asking on rokslide here, you may need it to survive 30' falls off buildings protecting your optics and be of kevlar weave strong enough to yank a 1 ton out of the ditch etc. ;)

Make sure the binos can be removed from/replaced back into the pouch with one hand.
And quietly based on how your binoculars are adjusted. My eyes are closer together so my binoculars are taller/less wide when properly adjusted than most and some bino harnesses do not work for me.
