How to set your baby up for the future hunting?

I really wouldn't focus on buying points. States can change the rules at any time. An example, in Montana you used to be able to buy points for kids of any age. My youngest has 3 for everything. Then they changed the rule, can't anymore. By the time he can apply, I doubt those points will still be there and I'll have to fight (likely unsuccessfully) to get them reinstated. I was also buying him preference points, he has two, then they changed the rule to consecutive years or lose them. Well I can't apply at all anymore, so they are gone. 10 years from now, who nows how the states will treat points or even still have them.

I get that everything is changing in today's world and nothing is certain in terms of the world or if your child will even be interested in hunting but if they were what kind of draws can you start buying points for when they are first born. ME Moose, VT Moose, NH Moose, PA Elk or any thing out west? Thanksinvest
Please first invest in buying time with the loin-critter. Whatever you have to do.

If you can't spend time with him in the woods growing up, he will be no hunter except by accident. All the draw hunt tags and lottery winnings you can pile up will mean nothing if you don't teach him to be a hunter.

You may already plan to do that.

I just noticed your post was about something easier.

Just buy them a lifetime hunting/fishing license.

Did that for my kids. They don’t care to hunt. But love to fish. So it’s more than paid for itself.

In the end you just never know what your kids are going to be interested in. I didn’t grow up in a hunting family. Had one uncle who hunted, but no one else. My dad was a car guy and tried to get me into cars.

I have no interest in cars. But I love to hunt.

I’ve taken my kids hunting. It’s just not there thing. They didn’t hate it. But they just have other interests.
