How much moisture can down absorb?

I know that goose down doesn't insulate when wet. If you build up a sweat when moving and then put on a down garment when you are stationary, that sweat will start to work its way into the down. I'm curious how much it can absorb from sweat being wicked off the body and into the jacket/pant before it loses its insulating capacity.

The Forloh ThermoNeutral™ Men’s Down Jacket from FORLOH is specifically designed to tackle this challenge head-on. Our jacket uses Activ-Dri Down™ technology, which treats each 650-fill organic duck down feather to repel moisture and minimize water absorption by over 60%. This unique feature keeps the down drier and prevents it from losing loft or its warmth-to-weight ratio, even when exposed to sweat or unexpected wet conditions.

What sets our down insulation apart is Perf-Weld™ technology—a FORLOH-exclusive innovation. The waterproof outer layer with micro-perforated welds allows moisture vapor to escape from inside, while still blocking external water from rain or snow. This breathability ensures that sweat is vented out, so moisture buildup is significantly reduced, even if you're layering the down jacket over a damp base after activity.

In short, our ThermoNeutral™ Down Jacket is designed to keep you warm and dry, without losing insulating power, even in high-sweat or cold, damp conditions. We’re confident it’s an ideal choice for all-day comfort and temperature regulation.
