Merica !Oh, Im not giving up anything!
I dunno about a quiver of hunting packs but for me it's:
Seek outside 4800
50 liter ski pack for hut trips and overnights
30 liter ski & snowmobile pack this is my day to day but is black, doesn't have any padding on the back and melts my trail mix in the summer
30 liter ski avalanche airbag pack (Heavy!)
20 liter sil nylon for mellow day hikes
[...]
I could downsize a bit but backcountry skiing with a big floppy pack sucks and I wouldn't even consider trying to get by using my SO pack as a daily ski pack If I just hunted and day hiked then I could see getting by with the SO and 20l pack but a diversity of activities requires a diversity of packs in my case.
One optic can’t do everything neither can one pair of shoes. One big bag can hold anything and pack down small enough to not be a henderance when you don’t need the full capacity. My thoughts on it at least.Ok fair nuff. Is it hoarding if they are all dramatically different packs, serving different functional needs of different activities and uses, and all get used fairly regularly? Cuz if not I’m going to have to ask several folks to pick just one magnified optic to own for everything. And one pair of shoes for everything from work, to the beach, to hiking, to ice fishing.
Well…I guess my point is that’s an obvious double standard. One pair of boots CAN be worn anywhere, even if they arent ideal. One optic CAN do everything you NEED, as opposed to every inch of every nuanced desire that you WANT. Same as one big pack can do everything you NEED even though it isnt ideal for every situation because its heavier, bulkier, etc. I dont have a problem with this, I definitely dont want the lowest common denominator for every piece of gear I use, just pointing out that if you only NEED one pack, then the exact same logic can be applied to any other piece of equipment. One optic can’t do everything neither can one pair of shoes.
