How many BOMB bags for a ram?

I think we covered this via PM, but if anyone else is curious...one BOMB Pack can cover two Dall Sheep boned out.

What about other animals? Is there a list somewhere of how many bags to take for what animals? Mule deer? Wild pig? Black bear? I have never bonned out an animal in the field but I just bought a Rokslide Kill Kit.

There's no list that I know, but the BOMB Pack was originally designed to accommodate one entire bull elk. So, using that as a reference, a big Muley would fit with some room left over...and two Dall Sheep de-boned would fit inside bags from one BOMB Pack. Also, this spring I was able to fit an entire Muskox in one set, minus the ribs because we left them whole to be cut and wrapped by the butcher. If we removed the rib meat it would have all fit, but just barely.

That said, the weight of one muskox is about 250-lbs of de-boned meat (no room left in any bags). A Dall sheep weighs about 70-lbs without bones, so 140-lbs for two inside one set with room left in the bags.

A caribou weighs about 100-lbs (rough average) without bones, but haven't tried to get two de-boned inside one set of the BOMB Pack.

Hope this helps reference other animals not yet attempted.

I have personal experience that a boned out cow elk fits entirely in one set, including the rib meat. Same with a bull, it fits the entire animal as well in a set. It also fits a boned out black bear. That's all I have stuffed in them so far...

I've put a whole antelope carcass in one bag. I received the 5 bag kit from entering the "name the bag" thread last year, or the year before. Can't remember. But I loaded one bag full of an entire skinned and gutted antelope. Still whole. And intentionally tried to rip the bag. Carried it around like Santa Claus and a bag of presents. No luck. Bag held just fine.

Hardstalk, that's just crazy man! Wish I had a pic of that, bud. Funny image though fo sho!

Which sizes, and how many of each of the bags in the BOMB Pack do most people bring with them for on a mule deer hunt? I see Larry mentioned above that there would be room to spare since the kit was designed to fit elk. So would I be able to leave a couple of the bags home to save space/weight? Just curious what combination everyone has had the best luck with.

I'd take 2 ea 14X34" and 2 ea 14X20" for Mulies, you should be fine...but having extra bags is good for swapping out when they get nasty after a few days. The whole set only weighs 10-oz.
