Well just got done with my archery hunt and I got a buck. Packing it out I had so many ticks crawl up my bag into my hair. Do you guys have any tips or tricks for keeping them off of you while you pack a head out? Do you cape the entire thing or remove the skin if you want a Euro mount? Had a bad experience with a tick on my ballsack when I was younger and I'd like to find a way to keep them off of me while packing.

There's a few companies that make wipes you can use, instead of carrying a spray bottle around(Sawyers, Deep Woods, etc)

Several drops of rose geranium essential oil.
That's interesting! I'll have to check that out, I'll look at the wipes as well. It was pretty hot, so I needed to get him packed out ASAP unfortunately. They were all leaving his head and going to the nose. I'll try the oil in the back of my hair and maybe use the wipes on my neck next time. Do you think that the oil is safe for skin?

It is safe to the skin. You can also make a spray out of it. Lots of good recipes online. My best success has been one that had white rum, apple cider vinegar, vegetable oil, and rose geranium oil mixed. Never once had a tick on me with that. It is also safe for pets.

I hate ticks, and I only do euro mounts so I remove the Cape in the field. Congrats on a great buck!

Treating clothes with permethrin seems to work during turkey season in the spring, but this is a little more intense. It can’t hurt though.

It helps to be somewhat bald like me. But I check my body relentlessly scouring my head, waist area, ankles, thighs, reachable back areas. I fear lime disease.

sawyer Permethrin- Spray it on your clothes before heading out. works great for a week or two. Great against ticks and chiggers.

I like permethrin on my clothes - I get the concentrate and mix it heavy.

What OP is talking about is a bit more extreme - the ticks will head towards the next warm body. Garbage bag sounds good to me to keep the critters off.
