Looking to do a spring black bear hunt in the west side of montana bitterroot national forest beaver head area. Looking to find someone who might be interested in a two week adventure trekking in and see what we can come up with. Success is always a plus but I know hunting is hunting. Most my friends cant fathom it and was hoping to find some who would be interested in western adventure hunting thanks!

Do you live in MT? Have you done any hunts like this before?
No sir, im for Florida and been living in Michigan the last 15 years, adventure wise always be able to hop In the truck and go home. Closest thing to thrilling is catching boar hogs with our hands because our catch dog was a female and she was inheat .😆 🤣 😂 But I am going to a take a year and get serious about it and hike with 65lbs on my back a few times a week up some 900' in elevation ridges we have lol

Because you are trying to find a stranger that you know nothing about to go into the wilderness with you for 2 weeks. Most guys MIGHT consider hunting for 5 days for a bear. So it kind of smells like a disaster so choose wisely.

I commend you for trying though and I wish you luck on your bear hunt.

That must be the highest hill in Florida 😂

Thanks man I'd would try going solo but the wife is concerned about me becoming a grizzly burrito in my sleeping bag because I'm alone. I can see where 2 weeks can seem like alot. I picked that time frame because I felt like I could learn more and possibly pattern something out.

Plenty of places to bear hunt without grizzlies if you want to go solo
Yes but idaho and montana have good otc tags and the adventure. I could literally kill bear here in michigan. But trekking 5+ miles back for camp then going further just sounds epic I cant explain it

Fair enough. Whether you find someone or go solo I’d have plans A through E figured out and solid. Personally 2 weeks in at once is too much for me, especially on a bear hunt. I plan on 3-4 days in a spot at a time then back to the truck for a resupply. I keep a full car camp setup in the truck with a compact cot and a more comfortable rectangular bag with a real pillow. I also have a larger pot like a small canning kettle and a shower bag so I can clean up. Even if i don’t run into town a shower real food and a really good nights sleep helps my mentality. You may also find that closer to road systems have more bears so having a comfier camp can be a big plus and may help your wife feel better about you going solo.
I’m a west coast guy so my bear hunting is California and Oregon so I can’t speak to MT and ID but you’ll probably hit a few spots without a lot of sign or conditions are off so being mobile can help with that until you find a drainage with bears.
