How do you EDC your knife?

How do you all carry your EDC knife? I’ve been carrying the Benchmade mini bugout for the last couple years and love it. I use the clip to keep it at the corner of my front pocket. However, there are times when it catches on things. The side of my wife’s car is all scratched up from the clip rubbing against it when squeezing by in our small garage. Fortunately for me, my wife has blamed the kids as she thinks it’s from the their bike handlebars scraping the side.

I like the convenience and utility of the clip and the placement in the corner of the pocket, but I need to figure out an alternative. My wife will probably be getting a new vehicle soon and I don’t want to scratch it up.

Aside from carrying it loose in the pocket, does anyone have any good alternatives to carrying an EDC knife?

iv gone away from pocket clips in the last few years, I tie a lanyard to the knife and carry it with my keys, or atleast in that pocket.

Depending on the job you have and your knife uses i prefer to carry a small knife on my belt in a leather or kydex sheath. You can get kydex mounts that you can slide you knife in as well.

I haven’t considered tying a lanyard on it. I’ve seen this, but never thought about. I guess the lanyard is to dig it out of your pocket easier?

I carry an old pocket knife, it doesn't have a clip. I carry it in my front pocket, I'm old, I've carried since before high school.
One of the reasons I like the pocket clip is because it is easily accessible and it doesn’t take long to find and open the knife. Do you ever have difficulty fishing the knife out of your pocket?

I switched from my right pocket to left pocket a number of years ago due to my pocket clip catching on things, mainly leather steering wheels getting in and out messing up the leather. Feels normal now on left side maybe something like that could be your answer. No way I could have my knife floating in my pocket I wear gloves at work and wouldn’t be able to access it

Pocket clips are dumb. I can’t stand those things. I carry mine in my pocket like it’s supposed to be carried.

Super easy to get out, cause it’s in your pocket.

I’m a big fan of edc fixed blades. I normally carry mine in a cross draw horizontal sheath or vertical strong hand depending on what I’m wearing. Otherwise it’s a folder on a pocket clip or dropped in the pocket. Oh yeah sometimes a neck knife. Guess you could say I’m an equal opportunity knife carrier.

Yeah Loper, I do, but my Old Timer and I have a good relationship. I like the three blades because I sometimes use my knife as a multitool, and I don't want to mess my main blade up while trying to pry something open, use it as a flat or phillips, use it to open seed bags, pry apart battery terminals or clean a terminal, etc. Is it the most convenient, the fastest opening, the biggest blade, etc., no it isn't. It is easy to sharpen after all these years, the blades are thin and worn, the tips are a little blunt (still will get into a finger and get out a dug in splinter), and it can open grandkid's new toys with ease (any of y'all tried to open these new packages), and will take care of gutting and skinning a deer if necessary, etc. I'm easy to sharpen, I'm a little thin and worn (especially my hair), I can be blunt at the wrong times, and I can definitely dig at someone until I've ticked them off.

I do have one of the new knives that you replace the blades (wife bought it for me a couple years ago) that thing is great on duck gizzards. Gizzards can dull a knife up quickly if you do a bunch at a time, replace the blade and keep on rocking. The old schrade fixed blade is still my best when it comes to skinning.

Old school, it just gets the job done.

Benchmade mini grip clipped on my left pocket. My phone is in my right pocket and it was prone to catching knives or getting scuffed pretty good.

I’ve also been messing with a mini speed goat horizontal across my belt, not a bad way to go either.

Spyderco PM2 or a Leatherman Free P2 clipped every day to the same spot you do. I’ve carried a knife daily since I was about 12. I would personally just change where I walked past my wife’s car, not how I carry my knife. It’s a habit thing, it’s a reflex to reach for it where it currently is. Digging them out of the bottom of your pocket where it’s tangled with your keys and change and chapstick is crazy and annoying, especially when you’re doing it one handed because your other hand is occupied.

Tie a lanyard with a plastic bead or beads spaced along the lanyard with one close to the knife. Tuck the knife vertically in the pocket back towards your hip with the lanyard and first bead looped over the top and back of the pocket. You can then easily grab the lanyard and pull the knife out. More indiscreet than a pocket clip and still easy to access without digging. You can do the same with a plain lanyard or a lanyard with a couple of knots tied in. I do a plain lanyard while working in some facilities where an obvious knife clip isn’t very acceptable. I use thin high strength guy line for my lanyard. Stuff I have around for tent guy line.

I took a leap with an auto-deploy kydex sheath for my para3/pm2 and so far am loving it. Carrying it appendix with a right side draw. Loving the fact that I am not tearing up my jeans anymore!

I carry a Bradford Guardian 3.5” fixed blade, it came with a horizontal belt sheath. I carry it in front on the right side, my shirt goes over it so it always stays pretty concealed, but if the need arises, I’m able to access with either hand as well. I still have plenty of folding knives, but I like fixed blades for their strength. I’ve also toyed with the idea of getting a kydex sheath for it so I can kidney carry it as well.
