How do you carry spare arrows/grouse arrows?

Looking for ideas on how to carry some spare arrows and or some grouse arrows while on backpack hunts. I'm all set for an 8 day Elk hunt a week from now and would like to carry some spares in case things get a little western.

Thanks,

Drew

Down the side of my bag under the compression straps or in one of the long pockets of my T2 bag on the on the way in. I usually have the 5 in my quiver and 2 or 3 spares on my backpack. Then after camp is set up and out day hunting I have 4 with broadheads and 1 small game head in my quiver. Extra arrows in camp with small game heads in case I get into a grouse firefight!

I just run 3 arrows in my quiver for big game and the last 2 have bird tips... No need for more than that..

I'll be staying on the move this year and camping wherever I end up each night most likely. No more worrying about getting back to camp anymore. so I'm trying to think of a way that I can get a grouse arrow off my pack easily since all my gear will be on me at all times most likely. I had thought about using the compression straps but wasn't set on that yet. I'll be using my Kifaru AMR this year for reference.

I have 4 broadhead arrows and 1 judo in my quiver, with an extra judo and a couple broadheads in my pack. Can't imagine needing more than that but, I always have some spares in a fly rod tube in the truck. Sure wouldn't want to pack that around for days, I'd just be careful to take shots at grouse that aren't like to lose or bust up arrows?

This year I am using the plastic tube from a full size drawing plotter. Tube is probably 1.25"-1.5" diameter and I used blue board insulation to plug one end for the tips and then sandwiched a 1" piece of blue board between two plastic circles from broadhead packages etc. and drilled a hole through the middle and ran a piece of 2mm rope through with knots on each end. The main tube is cut just long enough that with my longest arrow/broadhead combination there is less than a 1/4 inch of length left with the top piece inserted. Tube is white so I wrapped it with some cheap vinyl camo sticker I had laying around. I would take a picture but its in my bow case packed away in the vehicle to leave tomorrow night for opening day saturday. I can fit 4 arrows but put 3 arrows in with my poison arrow decoy. I weighed it and it wasn't bad less than 8 oz I think. I don't see myself packing it unless i'm getting 5 ish miles back or more and can leave at the tent during the day.

Just put one in your quiver.

The only close call I've had to needing more than one grouse arrow was when I shot one on a branch and used the tree as a backstop. The arrow with judo buried 3" into the tree. I used the screwdriver on my multi tool and a rock and eventually dug it out enough to unscrew the arrow from the judo. Had to slide the grouse off the arrow.

That's interesting 5Mile- twice I've hit grouse in what seemed like a perfect spot and had them fly off with my arrow attached. Never did find either. I've also seen that happen to a buddy.

You guys got your "Grouse arrows" setup all wrong! I use grim reapers...lol. Seriously...about all they are good for IMO.

I carry a 5 arrow tight spot quiver with 4 broadhead arrows and 1 bird tip. Then I carry 3 bird tips in my small archery kit. they don't weigh a lot and after a few days of Mountain House I want some fresh meet so rabbits, dove, and grouse if I'm in CO are gonna become dinner.

I have carried a fold out wrist rocket, light and much cheaper to shoot than arrows at critters. Now I just carry 4 bh arrows and a blunt. Blunt will kill small game easy you just gotta get on em fast.

I'm still trying to picture "not" getting a passthrough on a grouse.

Lol I was thinking the same thing, I will say I have hit them little bastards a handful of times only to have the arrows glint off of the feathers. Its even more humbling when they fly off, and mock you while you wander around looking for your arrow.
