How do store your backpacking tents?

I air mine out after a hunt, hose it down if needed and let it totally dry out, both inside and outside. Making sure when I store it in its original sack it is totally dry, and it stays there and then in a large plastic box that closes to keep any insects, or varmits from getting to it till next time it is pitched.

To avoid any confusion, my tent is a floorless tipi.

I just stuff them in their stuff sack. Be super careful about putting them away wet. It took me over a week to dry out my tipi after my last hunt where we got rained on for 7+ days, I'd think it was dry and start packing it up just to find another fold in the material with moisture in it still. Don't want to grow any mold on your tent in the off season. I don't think storing it in a big cotton bag like you do with a sleeping bag would help as the material gets so bunched up moisture would hold in there for a long time.

After aired out & dry.... I just have them loose in an oversized mesh laundry bag. Think they were $.97 from Walmart. Mesh bags hand from hooks on the walls of the Gear room.

I hang tents, stuff sacks, tarps, etc in the laundry room with the heater on for 24 hrs. Summer time, it hangs outside for 24 hours. Usually plenty to dry it out. Then I put it in its sack and put it away. Unfortunately/fortunately I have too much gear for our tiny house so I dont have the space to store them spread out.

tents and tarps after fully clean and dry, like everyone else, go back in there stuff sacks. the only thing that should be kept out is down items like sleeping bags and jackets.
