How are the Leupold Gen 2 VX-6s holding up?

There's not much love for Leupold on here and they really haven't been on the market long enough to get good long term hard use reviews. If all you're doing is sitting in a box or blind for whitetails and such, east of the Mississippi, they're going to be fine.... as long as they hold zero while in the vehicle.

Mechanics is Leupolds well known shortfall. They have quietly committed to correcting a problem that they will not publicly acknowledge. Just ask a rep...

Anyway, the erectors were redesigned with the gen2 and I wonder how they are performing.

Mechanics aside, leupolds have fantastic glass and specs.

I want to love Leupold. I say it all the time. Until someone ponies up (not me, they gotten enough of my money over the years to pay for a truck) and a couple of the Gen 2 VX-5 and VX-6 scopes get a beating and hold up relatively well, then it's a hard no. As I warranty stuff, the NIB replacement gets sold.

I would love it if the Gen 2 scopes turned out to be super solid. I had a good bit of trouble with my Gen 1 VX-5HD, but I loved the glass, loved the weight, loved the firedot duplex reticle. I just didn't love the poor tracking and wandering zero - but if they somehow worked it out and proved themselves with the Gen 2, I would seriously consider buying another.
