Hornady ELDM/ELDX Velocity-gate (7PRC)

Hey friends,

Waiting on a 7PRC to come back from unknown munitions so I went ahead and picked up 250 rounds of factory ELDM and 250 rounds of factory ELDX. Cruising forums I noticed that there was a period of time that actual velocities were not nearly close to those stated on the box due to powder shortages. I’ll be running a 20” barrel, and am well aware I’ll be losing some there, but has velocity in the newer lots of factory ammo been remedied?

Appreciate any info you can give!

No, Hornady put out a letter going over this but still has not adjusted the listed velocity on the box. To get the most out of the cartridge you will need to reload and if your gonna reload you can get more out of the old 7mag.

absolutley not. Can buy Federal ammo very easily that makes it to the 3k mark shooting 175s.
