My year old Hornady calipers display starts blinking about 15 seconds after turning them on. Put a new battery in it & same thing. Do I have a $50 piece of China made junk, or is there a fix?

well, I no longer buy anything hornady other than brass and bullets. cheap china has been a step up. try changing the battery again, I've had a few "new" batteries come dead in the package.

If a brand new battery didn't fix it I'm afraid they are probably done. If you want good measuring tools, bare bones you gotta start with Mitutoyo or base level Tesa-Browne&Sharp. Good dials are cheaper than digital. I However even good dials run a Benjamin. Just food for thought.
wapitibob is right though, most entry level calipers are good enough for most reloading. I'm a machinist and a tool snob, therefore Mitutoyos are what I run.

I have a pair of harbor freight calipers and other than needing to change the battery never had a problem. Although fi you wish for a better pair Fowler is a good name as well, I also have a pair of them. And a another pair of cheap Ebay ones and all have worked rather good. So sorry to hear the Hornady ones are not holding up.

When I bought the Hornady calipers, I’d already looked at the Mitutoyo on Amazon, but decided on the least expensive choice. Live & learn.
